5a1ive buries a G-Shock in crystal.

The 5a1ive custom G-Shock isn't a re-coloured Casio — it's a rebuilt object, hand-set with crystals and raw mineral clusters until the watch underneath disappears. Inside the craft that made 55555stuff.

Look closely at a 5a1ive custom G-Shock and the base watch is almost an afterthought. The Toronto designer, working as 55555stuff, takes a stock Casio — a GA-2100 CasiOak, a DW-6900, a GW-6900 — and hand-sets it under crystals, rhinestones and raw mineral clusters until the case is a landscape rather than a bezel.

That's the difference between augmenting and rebuilding. A pale-purple GA-2100 vanishes under packed lilac stones; a DW-5600 wears a chunk of raw amethyst like a geode split open on the wrist; a red DW-6900 is set edge to edge until it glints like a ring. The Casio DNA is still there — the octagonal CasiOak silhouette, the square 5600 face — but softened, weighted and made strange.

One-of-one, by design

The 55555stuff process is deliberately collaborative but firmly authored: a customer buys a model, picks a base colour, and shares a loose direction — then 5a1ive conceptualises and executes with full creative freedom. "Every 5a1ive custom is a one-of-one original," the store states plainly, and orders are non-refundable once the build starts. It's a commission model, not a product catalogue, and it's why no two pieces on the wall are the same.

The base colour is a starting point. Everything after it is 5a1ive.

The canvases: CasiOak, DW-6900, GAV01 and beyond

The GA-2100 CasiOak is, in the brand's words, the most-requested canvas — the octagonal case is the perfect field for dense stone-setting. From there the range runs to the GW-6900, the GAV01, the DW-5600, and one-offs like the sculptural Bey Blade build. Prices sit around $500–$600 USD depending on the model and the complexity of the set. Browse the current builds on the 55555stuff G-Shock collection.

What makes a 5a1ive build
  • The watch is treated as raw canvas, not a base to accessorise.
  • Raw crystal clusters — amethyst, quartz — set alongside packed stones.
  • Customer colour and brief in; full creative control out.
  • One-of-one and handmade, with a 2–3 week lead time.

It adds up to a product that photographs like jewellery and wears like armour — the reason 5a1ive builds keep ending up on artists and athletes rather than in a display case, and why a series like the Bey Blade-fused G-Shock keeps going viral on his verified @5a1ive. The craft is the marketing.

The most-requested canvas. The octagonal CasiOak case is the field 5a1ive returns to most — dense enough to disappear under a full crystal set.
